AUSTIN, Texas—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 25, 2006— Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL)(NYSE:FSL.B) is kicking off a coast-to-coast, 15-city seminar series in mid-May aimed at developers who want to accelerate time to market for embedded applications based on PowerQUICC(TM) communications processors containing a PowerPC(R) core.

The free seminar series will provide embedded developers with in-depth information on one of Freescale's most popular communications processors -- the MPC8349E PowerQUICC II Pro device. Developers will learn how to leverage Freescale's scalable and versatile MPC8349E mITX reference platform. Available in the compact mini-ITX form factor, the reference platform is designed to help developers bring next-generation SOHO and home networking, consumer electronics, content management and industrial control products to market quickly and at minimal cost.

Seminar attendees will see live demonstrations of the MPC8349E mITX reference platform optimized for several high-growth markets:

-- Highly integrated, all-in-one networking equipment for small-to-medium businesses

-- Home media servers with network attached storage (NAS) capabilities

-- Location-free access home networking/storage equipment

-- Industrial control devices with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity

"Today's embedded system developers are engaged in a fiercely competitive race against time," said Jeff Timbs, director of marketing for Freescale's Digital Systems Division. "Freescale understands that it's all about time-to-market in content management and delivery platforms for embedded markets. We've designed our seminar series to help developers rapidly transform Freescale's MPC8349E reference platform into their next revenue-generating applications. This seminar will showcase the ease of development, as well as the breadth of solutions already available from our reference design partners."
